Catherine Iorns is a Professor of Law at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Her primary areas of teaching and research are environmental law, indigenous rights, and statutory interpretation, with her teaching and research winning several prizes, including four in 2018 and 2019.
Catherine is also an advisor to the NZ Council of Legal Education, a member of the International Law Association Committee on the Implementation of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and a member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law.
Her current research focuses on better ways to implement responsibility and guardianship for nature in law, and on legal issues relevant to climate adaptation and liability. See: https://www.
