On 3 October The NZCGS 11th Annual Lecture was held at the Public Trust Hall in Wellington. ‘Mo Tēnei Rā, Mo Tē Āpōpō Hoki – For Today and Tomorrow’ was delivered by the Hon. Nanaia Mahuta, marking a significant moment for the Centre as it pivots forward with relevance in today’s context. Guided by the Centre’s founding principles, we “migrate Tuākiritanga (Identity), Hononga (Connections) and Kaitiakitanga (Stewardship) as key enablers to promote indigenous perspectives and global values. This will ensure that we can continue to shape a unique disposition of global citizenship for indigenous peoples and communities.” Attended by distinguished guests, members of the diplomatic corps, partners and friends, the event celebrated the successes of the Centres of Asia-Pacific Excellence, as its global citizenship education programmes were passed forward to the Centre, to sustain and grow the mahi. A special tribute was paid to retiring founding director, Kennedy Graham, who in turn, honoured outgoing trustees, Klaus Bosselmann and Kevin Clements and welcomed incoming trustees, Nanaia Mahuta, Anna Hood, and Fiti Guy Sinclair. Kennedy gave insights into the rationale, vision, achievements, and optimism for the future of the Centre.
